Hanging clothes out to dry in an arid area outside of
Creel

These horses didn't have much to graze on.

These formations south of Creel look like
a backdrop for the "Flintstones".
|
These huge boulders lining the road look as though they are
about to topple over.
|
The "rainy season" here is actually from
mid-July to mid-September; this photo was taken in late May. A day after
this shot was taken, a heavy downpour occurred, hopefully giving these
horses a little more to chomp on.

Horses and goats and dogs, oh my!!!

Many Tarahumaran Indians make their home
in these cave-like rocks.

May and June are the driest months in the
Copper Canyon region.

Goats galore in Cusarare

Cusarare is a small, poor village set amongst huge
boulders; it's located 12 miles from Creel and 1.5 miles from Cusarare
Falls (the falls are only accessible by foot). The falls can also be
accessed down the road from here (this also involves a good hike of about
half an hour).
|
The road from the main highway into Cusarare is best
navigated by high-clearance vehicles (or goats) as it is extremely uneven
and filled with large rocks.
